If there’s a badge, then there should be a place where these people can post information on there future studies. Having such a place, the Universities are able to provide quick screening requirements, saving time on our part, and providing exposure on there part. Plus any research that requires a massive number of respondents in a short period can have a much better chance of success since the community will be aware of the time of posting. Universities would still have control since they can withhold information about the research till the time of posting.

Congratulations, we’ve reached 25 upvotes on this idea and it is ready to launch!

My suggestion moving forward is to write an email to Lilly and Six from TO and ask them if they can add the badge. Next we need to design a badge. If no one disagrees I will send this email on Wednesday December 3rd:

Dear Lilly and Six,

We are truly grateful for all your time and effort in creating and maintaining Turkopticon! I am writing on behalf of Turkers on Dynamo in order to ask you to help us in running a new campaign. This campaign has recently launched on Dynamo and aims to further promote the ethical guidelines for academics by adding a badge to their requester accounts. Would it be possible for you to add this badge to the relevant TO accounts?

Thanks, Team Dynamo

Why doesn’t anyone interested come up with a badge and post it on flickr or dropbox and then link to it? If we have more than one we could have a poll.

I was thinking we should put a HIT up on mTurk to get a badge. :) Seems appropriate.

What do you think?

What should the next step be? I can use the Dynamo email to send an email to all researchers who have signed the guidelines and give them the badge. Or we can send an email to TO and ask them if they can add the badge to these requesters’ accounts.

I like it! I think we should definitely send it to the researchers who have signed and give it to them to use on their HITs.

I’m not sure how hard it would be for TO to add it to the requesters’ accounts. If that’s easy to do, I think it’d be good, but not if it’s going to be a significant programming undertaking. Plus it would require ongoing maintenance to have the badge added to TO whenever there is a new requester who signs the guidelines. I don’t know if we want to create extra upkeep work for someone at TO.

To keep it simple and easy, I think it would be best just to give the badge to requesters at the time they sign the document and they can use it themselves on their HITs. :)
